Sarah Wildor

Born in Eastwood, Essex, she studied at the Royal Ballet School and danced the Betrayed Girl (The Rake’s Progress) at the school’s 1990 performance. She joined the Royal Ballet Company in 1991 and was promoted to Principal in 1999. Her principal repertory included Juliet, Giselle, Manon, Anastasia, Cinderella, Sugar Plum Fairy, Titania (The Dream), Ballerina (The Concert), Desdemona (Othello), Push comes to shove, Gloria and Jeux. She created the Tightrope Walker (Sawdust and Tinsel) and roles in Fanfare, Dream of Angels, The Crucible and Mr Worldly Wise. She represented the Company at the Erik Bruhn Competition. 

 

Sarah left The Royal Ballet in September 2001 to concentrate on a career as a freelance performer both as an actress and dancer.

 

Sarah also created the title role in Matthew Bourne’s production of Cinderella, which she has performed during sell out seasons in London’s West End and Los Angeles. 

 

Sarah starred in Susan Stroman's Contact at the Queens Theatre London for which she was nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical. She also starred as Vera Baronova in Paul Kerryson’s award winning production of Rodgers and Hart’s On Your Toes at the Royal Festival Hall London and on tour in Japan. Other acting roles include playing Elizabeth in Uzma Hameeds' production of Frankenstein at Derby Playhouse, Titania in Glen Walfords' production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Ludlow Festival and Essie in Gavin Macalinden’s production of You Can’t Take It With You at Southwark Playhouse

 

Other dancing roles include creating the role of Madame de Tourvel in Les Liaisons Dangereuses which she performed on tour in Japan and at Sadlers Wells Theatre London, starring in A Tribute to Sir Kenneth MacMillan for Star Dancers in Japan and the Exeter Festival and starring in Shall We Dance at Sadlers Wells Theatre London.

 

Sarah has starred in Julian Woolfords' production of Wallflowering alongside her husband Adam Cooper with whom she co-choreographed the play.

 

Sarahs' T.V and Film work includes Jonathan Toomey directed by Bill Clark for 7 Productions, The Da Vinci Codedirected by Ron Howard for Sony Pictures and Holby for BBC.

 

Sarah splits her time between teaching Ballet and Pilates. Her teaching experience includes The Royal Ballet School, Tring Park, ISTD Junior and Senior Scholars and awards classes. This includes   Repertoire and solo coaching. 

 

Her most recent venture has involved teaching a section of The Nutcracker to the over 55’s, a success born from a Warner Leisure experiment!
