Roland Price
Roland Price trained in Australia and at The Royal Ballet School. He was awarded the Adeline Genée Gold medal in 1978 and joined Sadler’s Wells Royal Ballet in 1979, promoted to Principal in 1984.
He has danced Principal roles in all the classics and works by MacMillan, Ashton, Cranko, Bintley, Monte, Balanchine, Fokine, Dean, Tharpe, Van Manen, De Valois and Bournonville. He has created roles including Snow Queen, Quartet, Flowers of the Forest, and Chorus. From 1990 to 1994 he was a Principal with Boston Ballet.
Roland has made guest appearances with BRB, The Royal Ballet, Scottish Ballet and City Ballet of London, on London Weekend TV, and in Japan, Australia and Russia. He has twice been nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award.
Roland retired from dancing in 1995. As a teacher, he has worked at Boston Ballet Summer School (1993/4), the London Studio Centre (1996/7) and National Ballet School, Marseille, (1997/8) and continues to teach at Pineapple Dance Studios.
In 1999/2000 he was Rehearsal Director/Ballet Master for City Ballet of London. He is also a guest teacher with Matthew Bourne’s Adventures in Motion Pictures.
