Sander Blommaert
Ex-First Artist with The Royal Ballet.
Full time Teacher at Elmhurst Ballet Upper School.
Sander Blommaert started dancing at the age of 4 in Bruges, Belgium.
At the age of 10 Sander got offered a place at the Royal Ballet School in Antwerp. During his stay at the Royal Ballet School in Antwerp Sander participated in several international competitions that led him to win a summer school at the Royal Ballet School London through which he got offered a three year Scholarship at the Upper School in Covent Garden.
Sander graduated from the Royal Ballet School in 2010 with Honours and a place with the Royal Ballet Company.
Sander got promoted to First Artist in 2015.
His repertoire includes: Paris in Romeo and Julliet, Fish/Footman in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, 4 men in scenes de ballet, Cavalier in Sleeping Beauty, 4 men in Connectum and roles in Manon, Giselle, La Bayadere, Viscera, La Fille Mal gardee, The Nutcracker, Firebird, Swan Lake, Don Quixote, sweet Violets, DGV, Infra, Woolfworks, Obsidian Tear and many more.
Sander decided to hang up his Ballet shoes to start BBT in Battersea to pursue his other passion which is teaching.
Since leaving the Royal Ballet Company, Sander has obtained the Royal Ballet School Vocational Ballet Teaching Diploma and the Dance, Development, Teaching and Learning Diploma from Trinity Laban and is now teaching fulltime at Elmhurst Ballet School as the Year 13&14 Men’s Ballet Tutor.
Sander was shortlisted for the 2020 One Dance UK People’s Choice Award for his charity services during the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown.
